Destinations: 3 nights South Africa Safari & 6 nights Seychelles

Welgevonden Game Reserve is a declared heritage site of 37 000 hectares, malaria free, adjoining the Marakele National Park in the breathtaking Waterberg Biosphere, in Limpopo Province. A true bushveld environment and home to Africa’s most sought after game species, with one of the largest collections of white rhino. Join a guided safari or specialised bush walk with an experienced ranger to view elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, eland and many other antelope species with the opportunity to spot the aardvark, brown hyena or the rarely seen honey badger and bush pig.

Privately owned and operated, Makweti is for the true safari connoisseur in search of diverse wildlife and a Big 5 experience. The main lodge is built from natural rock with teak decks overhanging the dramatic Makweti Gorge. Rare African art, antique furnishings, rich woods, leather and woven textures create a homely elegance. Secluded stone and thatched chalets are stylishly decorated and offer the luxury of an escape from a busy world. Indoor and outdoor showers, Victorian bathtubs, log fires and viewing decks, some with private plunge pools make this a popular honeymoon destination. Twice daily safaris in open vehicles or on foot combine a landscape experience with excellent game viewing. Watch game at the waterhole from the luxury of the Indaba deck. Savour gourmet cuisine under the stars in the boma or in a candlelit dining room, whilst sipping an estate wine from the cellar. Makweti is a relaxing and romantic wildlife retreat. Scheduled flights, to an airstrip within the reserve, or an easy 3-hour drive from Johannesburg. This region forms part of the Waterberg Biosphere, declared a Natural Heritage Site.

Occupying an area of 116 hectares (280 acres) overlooking Anse Intendance Beach on the south west coast of Mahé, the luxurious Banyan Tree Seychelles is considered one of Mahé’s, and The Seychelles, finest hotels.

The resort comprises 60 luxuriously furnished and equipped one and two bedroomed villas, either close to the beach or on the hillside. These villas combine the very best of Seychellois architecture – contemporary and colonial decor – from high sloping ceilings, airy verendahs and louvered doors. Each spacious villa has its own private swimming pool and sundeck, some with private outdoor jet pool. Just steps from the beach, luxurious two-bedroom villas feature two pools, two private open-air dining areas, a jet pool and two fabulous master bedrooms.

As a member of the Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts group there is an element of Asian style and serenity throughout. This is particularly noticeable in the Banyan Tree Spa where you can pamper yourself with a wide variety of therapeutic treatments and soothing massages drawing on Asian techniques. All this with the sights and sounds of the ocean around you!

Fine Creole dining at Chez Lamar supplements the resorts signature restaurant ‘Saffron’ renowned for its creative Thai and South East Asian cuisine, as well as Au Jardin d’Epices for international flavours and charming ocean views.

South Africa
When visiting South Africa for a period of up to 90 days, travellers from the UK and most (not all) visitors from the European Union do not require a visa. Visitors who intend to work in South Africa must apply for a work permit abroad at the South African Consulate or Embassy. Before departing for South Africa, check with the nearest South African Consulate or Embassy for any possible changes regarding the visa requirements. Technically, your passport should be valid for at least 30 days beyond your intended date of exit from South Africa, in line with South African immigration regulations. However, some immigration officials still request that a passport should have at least 6 months validity on the date of entry to South Africa. To avoid problems at the airport on arrival, you’re advised to ensure your passport meets this requirement. Your passport should have at least 2 blank pages if you require a visa to enter the country. If you do not need a visa, one blank page will be sufficient.
Mahe, Seychelles
Visa are not required by any nationality as long as you have: (a) onward or return ticket (if not, onward or return ticket must be purchased on arrival); (b) proof of sufficient funds (minimum US$150 per day) and organised accommodation for the duration of the stay. A visitors permit, valid for up to one month, is issued on arrival subject to possession of (a) and (b) as above; alternatively a deposit may be made by ‘security’ bond in lieu. The permit may be renewed, provided the applicant holds a valid open return ticket and applies at least one week before the permit's expiry. For further information, contact the nearest Seychelles Tourist Office. Passengers in transit must have tickets with reserved seats for their onward journey. Passports must be valid for six months from date of arrival in the Seychelles. There is a departure tax of US$40; visitors staying for less than 24 hours pay US$10 and children under 12 years of age are exempt.
