Emirates links Dubai and the Seychelles with a flight of about four and a half hours, so a city stop on the way out is easy to arrange. Stay three nights on Bluewaters Island, beside Ain Dubai and a short walk from JBR, with time for the Burj Khalifa, the Creek and an evening in the desert. Then fly on to Mahé, the largest of the Seychelles' granite islands.
On Mahé you stay on Beau Vallon, a long, sheltered bay on the north-west coast with calm water for swimming most of the year. From here you can hike to Anse Major, explore Victoria's market and botanical garden, or take a day trip by ferry to Praslin and La Digue.

Bluewaters Island sits just off JBR, connected by a footbridge, with Ain Dubai at its centre. It is a quieter base with its own beach, a few minutes from Dubai Marina.
Mahé is the Seychelles' main island, with forested mountains, granite boulders and more than 60 beaches. Beau Vallon is its best-known bay, with water sports, a Wednesday night market and easy reach of Victoria.

Best time to go: April to May and October to November are the best months for the Seychelles, with calm seas between the trade winds, and Dubai is pleasantly warm then too. December to March is hotter and more humid in the Seychelles, and Dubai is very hot from June to September.

Ride up the Burj Khalifa, cross the Creek by abra to the souks and relax on the hotel beach. A desert safari with dinner is easy to add.

Swim and snorkel at Beau Vallon, hike to Anse Major, visit Victoria, or take the ferry to Praslin for the Vallée de Mai.
