Map & location
Funchal, Madeira, Portugal
Alto Lido Hotel sits in Funchal’s sought-after Lido area – a seafront district known for its promenade, ocean pools and restaurant-lined streets. You’re just 150m from local shops, cafés and bars, and around 300m from the Lido promenade itself, where you can join the coastal walkway, pause at viewpoints or dip into one of the bathing complexes.
Funchal’s old town and marina are about 2km away: close enough for a long stroll, but easier via the hotel’s complimentary shuttle bus. From here you can wander cobbled streets, visit the famous Mercado dos Lavradores market, or take the cable car up to Monte for eye-popping bay views and lush gardens.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
You’ll have plenty of ways to cool off, whatever the season.
Outside, there’s a generous freshwater pool framed by a sun deck with loungers and parasols – a lovely perch for watching the light change on the Atlantic. Facilities can vary slightly between the different pool areas, but fresh towels are provided and there’s space to simply settle in with a book.
Inside, a heated freshwater pool runs year-round, ideal if you’re visiting in cooler months or after a day exploring Madeira’s levada walks. While there’s no direct sandy beach here (Funchal’s coast is mostly lidos and rocky coves), Praia Formosa’s black-sand and pebble stretches are a short taxi ride away, and the Lido promenade is just 300m from the hotel.
