When to go to Tuscany
April to June and September to October are ideal, warm without the peak summer heat and crowds. July and August are hot, often above 30°C, and best spent on the coast. Florence is a year-round city break.
Getting there and getting around
Flights to Pisa take about two and a quarter hours. Transfers are 20 minutes to the coast and around an hour and a quarter to Florence. Fast, frequent trains link Pisa, Florence and Lucca; a car is best for the hill towns and Chianti.
