Which suits you?
Choose Ayia Napa for nightlife, a buzzing harbour and the famous Nissi Beach; outside peak summer it is more relaxed than its reputation suggests. Choose Protaras for families and couples who want calm, with Fig Tree Bay’s shallow water and a long, pleasant strip of restaurants. Both are around 40 to 50 minutes from Larnaca airport, and Cape Greco National Park sits between them.

When to go
Cyprus has a long season, from April to November, with the sea warm from June to October. July and August are very hot; May, June, September and October are ideal. Flights to Larnaca take around four and a half hours from the UK.
Things to do
Walk or cycle the coastal paths of Cape Greco to the sea caves and Lovers’ Bridge, take a boat trip or a glass-bottom boat, swim at Konnos Bay, visit the monastery in Ayia Napa’s old centre, and spend a day at a waterpark. Try halloumi, souvlaki and a traditional meze.
