All-Inclusive Maldives Holidays: The Best Resorts and What’s Really Included

In this story

All-inclusive is usually the best-value way to do the Maldives. Every resort sits on its own island, so every meal, drink and snack for your whole stay comes from the resort, at resort prices. Paying up front fixes the cost and lets you relax. But “all-inclusive” means different things at different resorts, and the upgrade tiers matter. Here is what you really get, which resorts do it best, and what it costs with flights.

You’ll find on this page

Is all-inclusive worth it in the Maldives?

For most couples and families, yes. There is nowhere else to eat on a resort island, and prices reflect that: a cocktail typically costs what you would pay at a smart London bar, and a service charge and government tax are added to every bill. Two people having breakfast, lunch, dinner, a few soft drinks, a couple of beers and a glass of wine each day can easily spend more on half board plus drinks than the all-inclusive supplement.

Full board can still make sense if you hardly drink alcohol, or if you are staying at a resort with a great à la carte restaurant you want to explore night by night. For everyone else, all-inclusive means no bill shock at checkout and no mental arithmetic every time you order a drink by the pool.

The short version

  • Choose all-inclusive if you drink alcohol, have teenagers who are always hungry, or simply want a fixed cost.
  • Choose Plus or Premium if you want excursions, à la carte dinners, premium brands or spa time already paid for.
  • Choose full board if you rarely drink and prefer to pay for the extras you actually use.

All-inclusive, Plus and Premium: what is included

Most Maldives resorts offer two or three levels. Names vary, but the pattern is consistent:

All-inclusive All-inclusive Plus Premium all-inclusive
Meals Buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner As all-inclusive, plus some à la carte meals Most restaurants, often à la carte
Drinks House wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks, in set bars and hours Wider choice, longer hours, minibar Premium brands, champagne at some resorts
Activities Non-motorised watersports, snorkel gear Often one or two excursions or a snorkel trip Excursions, sometimes a dive or spa treatment
Best for Value Couples who want variety Honeymoons and special trips

A typical pattern. Inclusions differ by resort and can change; your Travel Designer will send the exact list for your resort and dates.

Watch the small print on three things: which bars and restaurants are included (often not the signature restaurant), drink hours (some plans stop at midnight), and the minibar (usually only in the higher tiers).

All-inclusive Maldives resorts compared

All of these resorts offer an all-inclusive plan. Prices are today’s lowest per person for a holiday of about a week with flights from London and transfers; the board in the lowest price can be full board or B&B, and your Travel Designer will quote all-inclusive for your dates.

What all-inclusive never includes

  • Transfers: included in our package prices, but a seaplane costs much more than a speedboat, which is why resorts near Malé are better value.
  • Motorised watersports and diving: jet skis, parasailing and dives are almost always extra, except some dives on premium plans.
  • Spa treatments: extra, except for an occasional treatment on top-tier plans.
  • Private dinners and the signature restaurant: usually a supplement.
  • Premium wines and champagne: extra on standard plans.
  • Green tax: the Maldives charges a nightly green tax per guest; we show it clearly in your quote.

Combine the Maldives with a city stopover

Most flights from the UK to the Maldives connect in the Gulf, so a few nights in a city can be added for little extra. Popular options are Dubai & Maldives, Abu Dhabi & Maldives and Sri Lanka & Maldives, all with a week in the Maldives. See Dubai and Maldives holidays: how many nights where.

Frequently asked questions

Is all-inclusive worth it in the Maldives?

Usually, yes. Each resort is on its own island, so all your meals and drinks come from the resort at resort prices, plus a service charge and tax. If you drink alcohol, all-inclusive is normally cheaper than paying as you go.

What is the difference between all-inclusive and premium all-inclusive in the Maldives?

Standard all-inclusive covers buffet meals and house drinks in set bars and hours. Plus and Premium plans add à la carte restaurants, premium brands, the minibar and often excursions, a dive or a spa treatment.

Which Maldives resorts are all-inclusive only?

Adaaran Club Rannalhi is sold on all-inclusive only. Kuredu, Cinnamon Dhonveli, Ellaidhoo, Villa Park Sun Island, Hard Rock, SAii Lagoon and Villa Nautica all offer all-inclusive alongside other board options.

What is the cheapest all-inclusive Maldives holiday?

Resorts near Malé reached by speedboat, such as Adaaran Club Rannalhi and Cinnamon Dhonveli, travelling in May, June, September or early November, usually give the lowest all-inclusive prices.

Are transfers included in an all-inclusive Maldives holiday?

In our packages, yes: flights, transfers and your board basis are all included. Seaplane transfers cost more than speedboats, which is reflected in the price.

Is a Maldives all-inclusive holiday good for families?

Yes. Resorts such as Kuredu and Hard Rock Hotel Maldives have kids’ clubs, pools and family rooms, and all-inclusive makes the cost of feeding a family predictable.
