Map & location
Mijas, Costa Del Sol, Spain
La Zambra Resort is tucked into the green, pine-scented hills between Fuengirola and Mijas Pueblo, giving you a peaceful, almost rural feel with the Costa del Sol’s beaches still within easy reach. This is classic Andalusia: whitewashed villages, terracotta roofs and mountain views, yet with modern comforts and golf fairways right outside the door.
Spend mornings wandering the cobbled streets of Mijas, afternoons on Fuengirola’s long sandy beach and evenings back at the resort for spa time and sunset cocktails. It’s a superb base if you want a more authentic, less high-rise slice of the Costa del Sol but still want to dip into the buzz when it suits you.

Facilities
Pool & outdoors
Outside, three serene freshwater pools are spread across beautifully landscaped terraces. One main pool is lined with hammocks, Balinese beds and parasols – perfect for long, lazy days with a book. There’s also an infinity-style pool for uninterrupted views and a dedicated lane so keen swimmers can keep up their laps in style. A third pool area again comes with generous sunbathing spaces.
Complimentary pool towels are provided, and a disabled hoist helps ensure easier access for guests with reduced mobility. Facilities can vary by pool and by season.
Although La Zambra sits inland in the hills, you’re only around 6km from the nearest beach – ideal if you’d like to mix spa-and-golf days with classic Costa del Sol seaside time in Fuengirola or La Cala de Mijas.
Spa, sports & wellness
Wellness is where La Zambra really shines. The spa features a sauna, steam room, Turkish bath and whirlpool, alongside a full menu of massages, rituals and beauty treatments (local charges apply; opening hours usually 10:00–20:00, subject to occupancy). There’s also an on-site hairdresser for pre-dinner pampering.
The gym is air-conditioned and impressively equipped, with cardio machines, free weights, a stretching zone and fixed-strength equipment. Yoga, Pilates, tennis and padel are available too (some activities may incur a fee).
Beyond that, the resort is certified sustainable and offers thoughtful extras such as concierge services, a shuttle bus (local charge), English newspapers and useful items to borrow like fans, kettles and bottle warmers.
