Kamari, Perissa and Perivolos have long beaches, tavernas and bars, flat streets with no steps, and generally better value, with the caldera villages a short bus or taxi ride away.

Kamari, Perissa or Akrotiri?
Kamari: a long black-pebble beach, a promenade of restaurants and bars, close to the airport and ancient Thera. Perissa and Perivolos: long black-sand beaches, beach bars and a relaxed vibe. Akrotiri: quiet, near the Bronze Age site and the Red Beach, with some caldera views. Buses and taxis link them to Fira and Oia for sunsets.
