How we chose these hotels
We sell 54 hotels in the Lake Garda area. To build this list we started with every hotel around the lake, then read what our guests say: every hotel here is well rated on TripAdvisor. We spread our picks across different resorts so you can compare areas, and we only include hotels you can book with us today as an ATOL-protected package with flights and transfers. Prices change daily, so use the search box at the end of this page for live availability, or ask a Travel Designer for a tailored shortlist.
Things to do
Hop between towns by ferry, ride the Monte Baldo cable car from Malcesine, explore Sirmione’s castle and Roman villa, visit Verona for the Arena, tour the Bardolino and Valpolicella wineries, and cycle the lakeside paths in the north.
Getting around the lake
Ferries and fast hydrofoils link most lakeside towns, so you do not need a car to explore. Getting from end to end takes a few hours by slow boat, so it is worth choosing a base in the part of the lake that suits you best. The northern towns are perfect for active holidays, with world-class windsurfing, cycling paths and hiking trails. The south is flatter and gentler, with beaches and easy day trips by train to Verona and Venice. Flights to Verona take around two hours from the UK.
Eating and drinking
The eastern shore is wine country: Bardolino’s light reds and the rosé chiaretto are perfect on a summer evening, and Valpolicella and Amarone are produced just inland. Garda’s olive oil is among the most northerly in the world and delicious. Look out for lake fish such as trout and coregone, risotto, and tortellini from nearby Valeggio sul Mincio.
