Barcelona has it all: Gaudí’s extraordinary buildings, the medieval lanes of the Gothic Quarter, a city beach, world-class food and a buzzing nightlife. It is only two hours from the UK, and in summer a hotel with a rooftop pool makes all the difference after a day of sightseeing.
These ten hotels are the ones our guests rate most highly. Nine are in the city, and nearly all have a rooftop pool or terrace. The tenth is a seafront base in Sitges, just down the coast.

How we chose these hotels
We sell 68 hotels in Barcelona. To build this list we started with every hotel in the city, then read what our guests say: every hotel here is well rated on TripAdvisor. We spread our picks across different areas where we can, and we only include hotels you can book with us today as an ATOL-protected package with flights and transfers. Prices change daily, so use the search box at the end of this page for live availability, or ask a Travel Designer for a tailored shortlist.
When to go and getting around
May, June, September and October are ideal, warm enough for the rooftop pool without the peak crowds. July and August are hot and busy; winter is mild and great for sightseeing. Flights take around two hours from the UK, and the city centre is about 25 to 30 minutes from the airport. The metro is quick and easy, but the best way to see the old town is on foot. Book tickets for the Sagrada Família and Park Güell well in advance.
Things to do and what to eat
Marvel at the Sagrada Família, Casa Batlló, La Pedrera and Park Güell, get lost in the Gothic Quarter, browse La Boqueria market, watch the sunset from Montjuïc or the Bunkers del Carmel, and spend an afternoon on Barceloneta beach. Eat tapas and pintxos, try pa amb tomàquet, seafood paella by the harbour, and crema catalana, all washed down with a glass of cava or vermouth.
