Kassandra, Sithonia or Athos?
Kassandra (the first peninsula): the most developed, with Sani Resort, lively villages and the shortest transfers. Sithonia (the middle peninsula): wilder and greener, with beautiful coves and a quieter pace. Athos (the third peninsula): Ouranoupolis is the gateway to the monasteries of Mount Athos, seen by boat. The mainland coast around Psakoudia is close to all three.

When to go and getting there
June to September is beach season, with the warmest sea in July and August. June and September are ideal for younger children. Flights to Thessaloniki take around three and a half hours from the UK; Kassandra is about an hour to an hour and a half from the airport, and Sithonia and Ouranoupolis about two hours.
Family days out
Take a boat cruise along the Mount Athos coast to see the monasteries and, often, dolphins, explore the caves of Petralona, swim at the beaches of Kalamitsi and Karidi on Sithonia, and spend a day at a waterpark near Kassandra. Thessaloniki, with its seafront White Tower and great food, makes a fun day trip.
