Set on a quiet hillside above the Libyan Sea, Kakkos Terra Blu sits on Crete’s sun-drenched south coast, just outside the laid-back town of Ierapetra. This is the island’s more authentic, less crowded side: think traditional tavernas, flower-filled courtyards and long beaches lapped by clear, calm water.
From the hotel it’s a gentle downhill walk of around 700m to the nearest beach, while Ierapetra’s seafront promenade, old town lanes and port for Chrissi Island day trips are about 2km away. The elevated position means those wide-open sea views come as standard, but also means there are slopes and steps around the property.

Pool & outdoors
Days at Kakkos Terra Blu naturally gravitate towards the water. The hotel has two outdoor freshwater pools, each with sunbeds, parasols and that uninterrupted sea backdrop. One pool opens from April, with a second seasonal pool adding extra space from June to November – ideal if you prefer a quieter corner.
Pool towels are available with a refundable deposit, so you can travel lighter. Facilities at each pool can vary slightly through the season, but both are designed for easygoing lounging with plenty of room to stretch out.
The nearest beach is around 700m downhill from the hotel – you’re close enough for a quick dip before breakfast, but far enough to keep the ambience calm and secluded up at the pool terraces.
Spa, sports & wellness
The mood at Kakkos Terra Blu is firmly focused on unwinding, and the compact but well-thought-out facilities make that very easy.
In the spa you’ll find a sauna, steam room and Turkish bath plus a menu of massage and beauty treatments (local charges apply). It typically opens six days a week from April to the end of October, during daytime hours, making it perfect for a mid-afternoon reset after a morning in the sun.
If you like to keep active, the air-conditioned gym offers cardio machines, a free weights area, stretching space and strength equipment, usually open in the mornings. As the sun goes down, there’s occasional evening entertainment with live DJs and live music across the season – enough to add atmosphere without overpowering the hotel’s laid-back feel.
Practical touches include a 24-hour reception with concierge-style assistance, luggage storage and a handy on-site mini-market for essentials, drinks and snacks.

Food & drink
Kakkos Terra Blu runs on a generous All Inclusive Plus basis, with a focus on relaxed dining and long, sociable evenings on the terrace.
Elia Main Restaurant is the buffet heart of the hotel, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with live show cooking and a mix of Greek and international favourites. Expect crisp salads, grilled meats, local dishes and plenty of vegetarian choices, all enjoyed either inside or out on the terrace. Beachwear isn’t permitted at dinner to keep things smart-casual.
For something special, the atmospheric à la carte restaurant (seasonal and reservation-only) puts a more creative spin on Cretan and Med flavours, and All Inclusive Plus guests are usually entitled to one included dinner here per stay.
Drinks and light bites come courtesy of the Avra Snack Pool Bar, open from morning until late with snacks and drinks by the pool, and Thea Cocktail Bar, the stylish lobby bar with terrace service for pre-dinner aperitifs and late-evening cocktails as the sky turns pink over the sea.

The most indulgent choice for couples, these rooms open out onto a private terrace with sunbeds and your own pool – perfect for those who like to dip in and out of the water in complete privacy. Swim Up Double Room with Sea View
Details to be confirmed closer to opening. Planned to offer direct access to a shared swim-up pool plus sea views, combining the hotel’s serene aesthetic with a more exclusive pool experience.
Executive Suite with Sea View

Crete’s south coast is warmer and drier than the north, with long sunny days from late spring through to autumn – ideal for making the most of Kakkos Terra Blu’s pools and sea views. Ierapetra itself is a relaxed, authentic town with plenty of tavernas, cafés and a historic old quarter to wander, plus easy boat trips over to Chrissi Island’s white-sand beaches.
