Turks and Caicos is where the Caribbean shows off: powder-white sand, water so clear it looks edited, and some of the region’s most exclusive resorts. Most visitors stay on Providenciales, home of Grace Bay, but the smaller islands — private cays, North and Middle Caicos, historic Grand Turk — reward those who explore.
This guide covers where to stay, what to do and when to go. For our hand-picked trips, see our Turks and Caicos holidays page.
The quick answer
- For the famous beach and the most choice, stay on Grace Bay, Providenciales.
- For total seclusion, book a private-island resort.
- For caves, cliffs and flamingos, take a day on North and Middle Caicos.
- For wall diving and whale season, visit Grand Turk.
- Go between December and May.

Where to stay
| Area | Best for | What it feels like |
|---|---|---|
| Grace Bay, Providenciales | Everyone | Miles of soft sand, upscale resorts and reef snorkelling from the shore |
| Private islands | Honeymoons, seclusion | One-resort islands such as Parrot Cay and Pine Cay |
| North & Middle Caicos | Day trips, nature | Conch Bar Caves, Mudjin Harbour and flamingo ponds |
| Grand Turk | History, diving | Cockburn Town, the cruise beach and The Wall |
Grace Bay is the natural base for a first visit, with restaurants and boat trips on the doorstep. A ferry and causeway link Providenciales to North and Middle Caicos for a day of exploring.

Things to do
- Snorkel Bight Reef and Smith’s Reef — straight from the beach on Providenciales.
- A boat day to the cays — sandbars, Iguana Island and conch diving.
- Mudjin Harbour — dramatic cliffs and a hidden beach on Middle Caicos.
- Humpback whales — pass through the Turks Island Passage from January to April.
- Wall diving off Grand Turk — the reef drops away just offshore.
- Conch shacks — fresh conch salad at Da Conch Shack and the Thursday fish fry.
When to go
December to May is the best time, warm and dry with calm seas; January to April is also humpback-whale season. June and July are hotter and good value. The hurricane season runs from June to November, with the highest risk from August to October.

Getting there and entry

Money and local costs
The currency is the US dollar. A government hotel tax and service charge are added to accommodation bills, which we show in your quote.
Food and drink
