Levante: the classic Benidorm beach, with bars, restaurants and nightlife nearby. Poniente: a long, calmer beach popular with families and couples. The Old Town: narrow streets full of tapas bars on the headland between the two, with the Balcón del Mediterráneo viewpoint. The English Square area: the heart of the entertainment scene.

When to go and getting there
Benidorm is a year-round destination. Summer is hot and lively; spring, autumn and winter are mild and sunny, perfect for walking and relaxing. Flights to Alicante take around two and a half hours from the UK, and Benidorm is about 45 minutes from the airport.
Things to do
Watch the sunset from the Balcón del Mediterráneo, walk the Sierra Helada cliffs to Albir, visit Terra Mítica or Aqualandia, take a boat to Benidorm Island, explore the arty town of Altea, and catch one of the famous cabaret shows.
