When to go and getting there
May to October is the season; June and September are ideal, with warm sea and quieter beaches, while the south coast stays warm well into October. Flights to Heraklion or Chania take around four hours from the UK.

Visit the Minoan palace of Knossos, wander the Venetian harbours of Chania and Rethymno, hike the Samaria Gorge, take a boat to Spinalonga, and spend a day at the turquoise lagoon of Balos.
