Then discover the wetlands of Caño Negro, the northern region of Costa Rica, home to river turtles, caimans, jaguars and rare birds before continuing on to the unique and wonderfully remote Selva Bananito and onwards to relax on the beaches of Cahuita National Park and around Puerto Viejo.

Day 1: Arrive in San Jose
Arrive in San Jose and transfer to your designated hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2: San Jose – San Ramon
Enjoy a morning breakfast before transferring to the charming city of San Ramon.

Day 3: San Ramon
Spend the day at your own leisure, discovering the parks, trails and historical sites across the city on your own or joining optional excursions (at own expense).

Day 4: San Ramon – Cano Negro
Start the day with breakfast before travelling to Cano Negro in the northern region of Costa Rica. Cano Negro is considered one of the most significant biological areas throughout the entire country and the fourth most important wetland in the world, declared "Wildlife Area of International Importance" in 1991. This region is home to a wide number of fauna, with emerald basilisks, iguanas, river turtles, caimans, jaguars and over 350 species of bird calling this setting their home. Spend the afternoon on a nature walk near your lodgings to learn about the area.

Day 5: Cano Negro
Embark on a safe boat journey through the wetlands today where experienced guides can try and introduce you to some of the indigenous creatures, such as birds, reptiles and other native species. The afternoon is spent at your own leisure.

Day 6: Cano Negro – Sarapiqui
Today you head out after breakfast to Sarapiqui, an important area for cultivating corn, cocoa, cardamom, citrus, banana, palm, pineapple and a number of fruit trees and livestock to help keep the economy in balance. The area is distinguished by its rivers and the tropical rainforest climate that permeates throughout the region, making it an excellent place for kayaking, rafting, canoeing and boating.

Day 7: Sarapiqui
The day is yours to do what you like, whether it’s trekking across the surrounding landscape or embarking on an optional excursion (at own expense).

Day 8: Sarapiqui - Selva Bananito
Transfer today to the Caribbean’s own Selva Bananito, an area recognised by its cascading waterfalls, lush gardens, abundant flora and fauna as well as portions of land used by humans and their conservation.

Day 9: Selva Bananito
Spend the day as you wish and discover the beautiful setting on your own terms; choose from a myriad of optional excursions, such as bird watching, guided walks across the forest lands, camping, horseback riding, cliff rappelling or simply relaxing in the soothing rivers and natural pools.

Day 10: Selva Bananito - Puerto Viejo
Today you get to experience the beauty of Puerto Viejo where you will be travelling to after breakfast. Puerto Viejo is an up and coming tourist destination thanks mostly to its stunning pristine beaches, robust culture and proximity to national parks. Cahuita National Park and Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge are both hotspots that allow for amazing observations of the local wildlife and are only a short drive away from the area.

Days 11-12: Puerto Viejo
The next two days are spent at your own leisure to reflect upon your adventure so far whilst enjoying the intricacies and splendour of Puerto Viejo. You have the option of embarking on optional excursions (at own expense) or simply uncovering the sights your own way.

Day 13: Depart San Jose
Transfer to San José International Airport for your flight back home.
