Seven Seas Prestige: Regent’s New Ship and the Two Voyages to Watch

In this story

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has built its reputation on doing a few things very thoroughly: spacious suites, polished service and a fare that includes almost everything, shore excursions included. Seven Seas Prestige, which joins the fleet in December 2026, is the first ship of a new and larger class for the line, and the first genuinely new design from Regent in years.

Rather than run through the whole schedule, we have picked the two voyages from her first season that tell you most about the ship, and added a note for UK travellers who would rather not fly at all.

Why this ship matters

Regent’s existing ships carry roughly 700 to 750 guests. Seven Seas Prestige steps up to around 850. That is still small by cruise standards, and far smaller than the mainstream megaships, but the extra size gives Regent room to add new suite categories and more space in the public areas without losing the intimate feel its loyal guests value.

The headline is the Skyview Regent Suite. At about 8,800 square feet it is larger than most houses, and Regent bills it as the biggest suite on any cruise ship. Few people will book it, but it signals the direction: Prestige is aimed squarely at travellers who want the space and privacy of a luxury hotel, on a ship that still reaches small ports.

For everyone else, the more relevant changes are a redesigned Regent Suite and new suite categories, which should give more choice at the entry and middle levels. We will update this guide with first-hand impressions once the ship is in service.

Voyage one: the maiden transatlantic

Dates: 14 nights from 13 December 2026

Route: Barcelona to Miami

Ports include: Málaga, Madeira and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands

Included tours: up to 38 shore excursions to choose from

Maiden voyages have a special atmosphere. The crew are excited, the regulars who have booked every Regent launch are on board, and there is a sense of occasion that a ship’s later sailings rarely recapture. This one also happens to be a very good itinerary in its own right.

It begins in Barcelona, an easy short flight from most UK airports, and stays in Europe long enough to call at Málaga, with its Picasso Museum and Moorish Alcazaba, and Madeira, where December brings mild weather and Funchal’s famous festive lights. Then comes the part that only a transatlantic offers: several days at sea with nothing to do but enjoy the ship. For many people that is the whole point, and a brand-new luxury ship is about the best place to do it.

The crossing ends in the Caribbean with a call at Tortola, before arriving in Miami on 27 December. That means Christmas is spent on board, so expect the ship to be decorated and the mood celebratory.

A transatlantic is a holiday about the ship itself. On a maiden voyage, that is exactly what you want.

Voyage two: the Panama Canal

Length: 15 nights in the inaugural winter season

Route: Miami to Los Angeles through the Panama Canal

Ports include: the Cayman Islands, Colombia and Costa Rica

Included tours: more than 95 shore excursions to choose from

If the transatlantic is about the ship, the Panama Canal voyage is about the journey. Over 15 nights you sail from Florida through the western Caribbean to the Cayman Islands, down to Colombia, through the locks of the canal and up the Pacific coast of Central America, with a call in Costa Rica for its rainforest and wildlife, before finishing in Los Angeles.

This is where Regent’s inclusive fare really earns its keep. With more than 95 included excursions to choose from, you can take a rainforest walk, a city tour and a canal-side visit without adding a penny. On other lines, a voyage like this can easily cost several hundred pounds extra per person in tours.

Bear in mind that this is a one-way voyage, so you fly into Miami and home from Los Angeles. We can arrange both flights and a hotel night at either end.

No-fly option: Prestige from Southampton

From April 2027 Seven Seas Prestige moves to Europe, and the line has scheduled 12- and 14-night voyages from both Barcelona and Southampton. For UK travellers that means the chance to step on board a brand-new luxury ship without going near an airport.

Exact routes vary by sailing, so tell us whether you prefer the Mediterranean, Western Europe or the north and we will match you to the right departure. If no-fly cruising appeals in general, our guide to the best no-fly cruises from the UK compares all the main options.
