Tour overview
This 6-day escorted short break combines the colour and energy of Marrakesh with the Atlantic port of Essaouira and the villages of the High Atlas Mountains, with return flights from the UK included. Travellers aged 18 and over are looked after by a tour director throughout, with local guides for sightseeing. You stay five nights in a four-star superior hotel in Marrakesh, with all local taxes included, so there is no packing and unpacking. Breakfast and dinner are included every day, making this an easy and relaxing way to discover Morocco.
Marrakesh is a labyrinth of alleyways and souks teeming with craftsmen, traders and street food stalls. On a guided tour you visit the Saadian Tombs, with their fine Moorish decoration, and the Bahia Palace, built for a 19th-century grand vizier, before exploring the souks and the famous Jemaa el-Fna square as it comes alive in the evening.

A second day in the city takes you to the Jardin Majorelle, the cobalt-blue garden once owned by Yves Saint Laurent, and other highlights of the old city, with free time to shop for spices, leather and ceramics or relax in a traditional hammam.
A comfortable drive brings you to Essaouira, a UNESCO-listed fortified port on the Atlantic coast, with whitewashed walls, blue fishing boats, sea breezes and a relaxed medina full of art galleries. On your final full day you head into the High Atlas Mountains, which form a constant backdrop to Marrakesh, to see Berber villages, terraced valleys and dramatic mountain scenery, before returning to the city for a last evening. An upgraded version of the tour, with extra experiences, is also available at additional cost.
The physical rating is low, with gentle walking in the medina. This short break suits first-time visitors to Morocco who want an easy, fully escorted holiday with flights, hotel and meals included. Return flights from the UK, airport transfers and departure taxes are included in the price, so there is nothing else to arrange. The flight from the UK takes around three and a half hours, making Marrakesh an easy escape for a short break.
