Madrid to Marrakech: Lisbon, the Algarve, Seville & Fes – 15 Days
Salamanca, Coimbra, Lisbon, the Algarve, Seville, Chefchaouen, Fes and Marrakech, in a small group of up to 12.
Tour overview
This 15-day small-group journey travels from the heart of Spain through Portugal and across the Strait of Gibraltar to Morocco. Groups have no more than 12 travellers aged 15 and over, with a local leader throughout and local guides in Chefchaouen and Fes. You travel by train, public transport, private bus and ferry, and stay in comfortable hotels. Breakfast is included every day, with lunch on the day you cross to Africa. The trip is land-only, starting in Madrid and ending in Marrakech.
From Madrid you head to Salamanca, a golden university town on Spain's northern plateau, then cross into Portugal for two nights in Coimbra, an old capital on the River Mondego, with an evening fado performance and a free day for the Roman mosaics of Conímbriga. A train takes you to Lisbon for a leader-led walk through Belém, with its grand riverside monuments, and a tasting of pastéis de nata, the city's famous custard tarts, plus time for Sintra.

On the Algarve you base yourself in Faro for two nights and take a local boat out to one of the barrier islands that separate the town from the Atlantic, with time on the beach. Back in Spain, Seville offers an orientation walk and a visit to the Real Alcázar, a royal palace of courtyards, tiles and gardens. Next morning you drive to Tarifa and take the ferry across to Africa, where your Moroccan crew drives you into the Rif Mountains.
Chefchaouen, the blue city, gets two nights, with a local guide leading you through its maze of painted lanes. In Fes, one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world, a guided walk explores the medieval medina of Fes el Bali, with its craftsmen, souks, madrasas and tanneries. A train then takes you to Marrakech for a first evening in the great square of Djemaa el-Fna, with its storytellers, musicians and food stalls, beneath the Koutoubia minaret.
The physical rating is medium, with plenty of walking and some long travel days. This trip suits travellers who want to see three countries and two continents in one journey, using local transport at a relaxed, city-focused pace.

What financial protection do I get?
Every Travelisto booking is 100% financially protected. Your money is held in a ring-fenced Trust account until you return from your trip, and we are members of the Protected Trust Services scheme (PTS 6035). Most tours also include ATOL protection where flights are part of the package.
How do we cross to Morocco?
By ferry from Tarifa across the Strait of Gibraltar on Day 10. A Moroccan crew meets the group on arrival and drives you to Chefchaouen.
How do we travel between places?
By a mix of train, public transport and private bus in Spain and Portugal, and by private minibus and train in Morocco.

Can you tailor the trip?
Yes — every escorted tour can be modified into a private tailor-made version with your own dates, adjusted pace, upgraded hotels and add-on extensions. Tell us what you'd like changed when you enquire and we'll quote it both ways so you can compare.
What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
Not quite the right fit? Make it tailor-made.
If this group tour doesn't match your ideal trip, our specialists will turn it into a private tailor-made journey — your own dates, your own pace, upgraded hotels where you want them, and the parts you don't love swapped out. Same destinations, just rebuilt around you.
