Tour overview

This 14-day holiday is designed exclusively for solo travellers, combining three of South America's great countries with a twin or double room of your own in every hotel and no single supplement. A dedicated host travels with the group, supported by specialist local guides, and return flights from London are included, along with a UK airport lounge and porterage. You stay eleven nights in four- and five-star hotels, with two nights in flight. Breakfast is included daily, with a welcome dinner in Santiago and a farewell churrascaria dinner in Rio.

Your journey begins in Santiago, set beneath the snow-capped Andes, where you get to know your fellow travellers over dinner. A city tour takes in the Presidential Palace and the elegant districts of Las Condes and Providencia, ending on San Cristóbal Hill for views of the mountains, with an optional afternoon at a historic winery in the Maipo Valley. You then cross the Andes by road, with views of Aconcagua, the highest peak in the Americas, to Mendoza, the heart of Argentina's wine country, for two nights and a sightseeing tour of the leafy city.

Buenos Aires, often called the Paris of the Americas, is your base for three nights. Sightseeing takes in the Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada, the colourful houses of La Boca and Recoleta cemetery, where Eva Perón is buried. Two free days let you join an evening of tango, take a riverboat through the Tigre Delta or cross the River Plate to the old town of Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay.

A flight brings you to Iguaçu Falls, where 275 separate waterfalls tumble from a height of 70 metres. You ride the Ecological Train through the jungle and walk the walkways to the Devil's Throat, with views across to Brazil and Paraguay. The holiday ends in Rio de Janeiro, between Sugarloaf Mountain and the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, with a cog railway ride up Corcovado to Christ the Redeemer and a farewell dinner at a Brazilian churrascaria before your flight home.

The physical rating is low, with city walking and the Iguaçu walkways. This holiday suits solo travellers who want to see South America's highlights in comfort, with like-minded company.
