Andes to Atacama with Flights: Machu Picchu, Uyuni & Chile – 18 Days
Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, the Salar de Uyuni and the Atacama in one journey, with UK and internal flights included.
Tour overview
This 18-day escorted tour follows the spine of the Andes through Peru, Bolivia and Chile, from the Inca heartland to the Atacama Desert, with international and internal flights from the UK included. A national escort leads the group throughout, with local guides at each stop, and you travel by plane, scenic train, hydrofoil and coach. Groups are typically between 12 and 28 travellers, and you stay in comfortable three-star-plus and four-star hotels, including two nights in a hotel built of salt beside the Salar de Uyuni. Sixteen breakfasts, ten lunches and seven dinners are included.
After a welcome dinner and a tour of Lima's colonial centre, you fly to Cusco and drive into the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The circular terraces of Moray lead on to the Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes and a guided visit to Machu Picchu, the lost citadel of the Incas, high on its mountain ridge. In Cusco, the former Inca capital, you explore the cathedral, the Qorikancha temple and the colonial streets.

A scenic train journey across the Peruvian highlands, with a gourmet lunch on board, brings you to Puno on Lake Titicaca. The next day a hydrofoil crosses the lake into Bolivia, with visits along the way, followed by the drive to La Paz, one of the most spectacularly set cities in the world. A flight takes you to the Salar de Uyuni for two nights, with a picnic on the salt, perspective photographs and a visit to the Coquesa mummies preserved in a cave near the Tunupa volcano.
Crossing into Chile, you spend three nights in San Pedro de Atacama, visiting the village of Toconao, the Moon Valley at sunset and the El Tatio geysers at dawn. A flight to Santiago leads to a city tour and a day trip to the colourful port of Valparaíso before the flight home.
The physical rating is medium, with high altitude in Peru and Bolivia, up to about 4,300 metres. This tour suits travellers who want to see the Andes' greatest sights in one journey, with flights and logistics taken care of. Single rooms are available for a supplement.

Frequently asked questions
How do I book this tour?
Tap any "Enquire" button on the page and one of our travel specialists will be in touch within 24 hours (often same day). We'll confirm availability on your preferred date, run through anything you need to know, and only ask for the deposit once you've decided.
What financial protection do I get?
Every Travelisto booking is 100% financially protected. Your money is held in a ring-fenced Trust account until you return from your trip, and we are members of the Protected Trust Services scheme (PTS 6035). Most tours also include ATOL protection where flights are part of the package.
Are flights included?
Yes, return flights from the UK and internal flights to Cusco, Uyuni and Santiago.
How do we reach Machu Picchu?
By the Vistadome train from the Sacred Valley, then a bus up to the citadel. There is no trekking.
Will the altitude affect me?
Much of the trip is at high altitude. The itinerary builds up gradually, but seek medical advice before travel.
What is the salt hotel like?
A comfortable hotel built largely from blocks of salt on the edge of the Salar de Uyuni.
Do I need visas?
UK visitors do not need visas for Peru, Bolivia or Chile for tourist stays. Check the latest FCDO advice.
How many people travel together?
Typically between 12 and 28, with a national escort.
Can you tailor the trip?
Yes — every escorted tour can be modified into a private tailor-made version with your own dates, adjusted pace, upgraded hotels and add-on extensions. Tell us what you'd like changed when you enquire and we'll quote it both ways so you can compare.
What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
Not quite the right fit? Make it tailor-made.
If this group tour doesn't match your ideal trip, our specialists will turn it into a private tailor-made journey — your own dates, your own pace, upgraded hotels where you want them, and the parts you don't love swapped out. Same destinations, just rebuilt around you.
