Tour overview

This 14-day journey loops around Cambodia, combining its capital, the temples of Angkor and rural villages with the colonial town of Kampot and the beaches of Koh Rong. A local leader travels with the group, which numbers no more than twelve. You stay thirteen nights in simple hotels, a village homestay and bungalows on Koh Rong, with breakfast on most days, a lunch and a dinner.

In Phnom Penh you visit the Royal Palace and confront the country’s past at Tuol Sleng and the Killing Fields. Two nights in Battambang, depending on the departure date, bring the countryside, bamboo train and temples. In Siem Reap you spend two days temple-hopping by remork-moto and watch the sunrise over Angkor Wat, then stay with a family near the pre-Angkorian temples of Sambor Prei Kuk.

In Kampot, an attractive riverside town, you visit pepper plantations, salt fields and the countryside. A speedboat then carries you to Koh Rong for two free days of swimming, snorkelling, kayaking or simply relaxing on white-sand beaches before you return to Phnom Penh.

The physical rating is low. This trip suits travellers who want to see the whole of Cambodia, with island time at the end.
