Cambodian Traveller: Saigon to Bangkok via Angkor – 9 Days
Phnom Penh, rural Cambodia and the temples of Angkor between Saigon and Bangkok.
Tour overview
This 9-day trip crosses Cambodia from Vietnam to Thailand, taking in its capital, its countryside and the temples of Angkor. A local leader travels with the group, which numbers no more than sixteen. You stay eight nights in simple hotels, with one night in a homestay or hotel depending on the route, and breakfast daily.
From Ho Chi Minh City you travel by bus across the border to Phnom Penh, where a guided visit to the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Choeung Ek Killing Fields reveals the country’s tragic past, alongside its Royal Palace and riverside. Heading north-west, you spend a night in the countryside, visiting temples and villages on the way to Siem Reap.

Three nights in Siem Reap give you time to watch the sun rise over Angkor Wat and explore the vast temple complex, including the faces of the Bayon and the jungle-clad Ta Prohm, with a private boat trip in the afternoon. You then fly to Bangkok for a final night.
The physical rating is low. This trip suits travellers who want a great-value introduction to Cambodia between two great cities.
