Galapagos Expedition Cruise & Machu Picchu with Flights – 19 Days
Machu Picchu, Cusco and Quito, then an eight-night Galapagos expedition cruise, with UK flights and all meals.
Tour overview
This 19-day journey combines Peru's Inca highlights with an eight-night expedition cruise around the Galapagos Islands, with return flights from the UK, four-star hotels on land and all meals included. Groups have between 12 and 28 travellers aged 12 and over, with an English-speaking tour director and local guides on land and an expedition team of naturalist guides at sea. You stay eight nights in four-star hotels in Peru and Ecuador and eight nights aboard the MS Santa Cruz II, a comfortable expedition ship, with drinks included on board.
After flying to Lima, you continue to Cusco and the Sacred Valley, visiting the circular Inca terraces of Moray and the valley's markets and villages. The panoramic Expedition train carries you along the Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes for a guided visit to Machu Picchu, then you return to Cusco for a tour of the imperial capital, beginning at the fortress of Sacsayhuaman. Back in Lima, a city tour takes in the Plaza Mayor and colonial centre.

Flying to Quito, you explore Ecuador's capital, beginning at Independence Square, before a short flight to Baltra to board the MS Santa Cruz II. Over the following days, you sail to the remote tip of Isabela at Punta Vicente Roca and to Fernandina, the youngest island, home to marine iguanas and flightless cormorants, then visit the Charles Darwin Research Station on Santa Cruz and the giant tortoises of the highlands.
Panga rides and landings follow on Floreana, the rugged volcanic island of Santiago, the red-sand beach of Rabida and the famous viewpoint on Bartolomé, before you climb Prince Philip's Steps on Genovesa, home to colonies of red-footed boobies, frigatebirds and storm petrels. A final morning on the north shore of Santa Cruz precedes your return to Quito and flight home.
The physical rating is medium, with altitude in Peru and wet and dry landings in the islands. This journey suits travellers who want a comprehensive Galapagos cruise and Machu Picchu in comfort, with everything arranged. Premium drinks and tips are extra. Wet landings mean sandals or water shoes are useful in the islands. Departures are limited.

What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
