Scandinavia Explorer: Oslo, the Fjords, Stockholm & Helsinki – 15 Days
Oslo, the Bergen Railway, a Nærøyfjord cruise, Lake Siljan and Stockholm, ending by overnight ferry in Helsinki, with a small group.
Tour overview
This 15-day small-group journey links three Nordic capitals with Norway's fjords and Sweden's lakeland, travelling by train, bus and boat. Groups have up to 12 travellers aged 15 and over, with a leader throughout. You stay fourteen nights: comfortable hotels in Oslo, Bergen, Lillehammer, Stockholm and Helsinki, two nights in rustic cabins in the fjords near Gudvangen, two at a peaceful local B&B outside Rättvik and one aboard an overnight ferry across the Baltic. Breakfast is included on most days, with a dinner and a picnic lunch in Sweden, leaving plenty of freedom to try Nordic food along the way.
After an orientation walk in Oslo, you have free time to explore the waterfront, museums and islands of the Norwegian capital. The Bergen Railway then carries you across the high Hardangervidda plateau to Bergen, one of the most scenic train journeys in the world. In Bergen you ride the Fløibanen funicular to a viewpoint high above the city's colourful wharf and fish market.

A bus journey through remote landscapes takes you into the fjord region for two nights in cabins. A boat trip glides through the Nærøyfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where crisp mountain peaks are reflected in glassy water, to the village of Flåm. You then cross the high country to Lillehammer, host of the 1994 Winter Olympics, for a visit to the Maihaugen Open Air Museum and its Garmo Stave Church.
Crossing into Sweden, you stay at a B&B near Rättvik on Lake Siljan, in the heart of Dalarna, and join local experts on a village safari with a picnic lunch. A train takes you to Stockholm, spread across islands, for an orientation walk and a visit to the Vasa Museum, home to a 17th-century warship raised from the harbour. An overnight ferry through the archipelago brings you to Helsinki for a final day.
The physical rating is low, with some long travel days. This trip suits travellers who want to see the variety of Scandinavia, from cities to fjords and lakes, with a small group. Rides on the Bergen Railway and the ferries are highlights in themselves.

What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
