Tour overview
This 10-day escorted safari holiday is based at one of Botswana's best-known lodges, so you unpack once and spend a week watching wildlife on the Chobe River. Return flights from London Heathrow or Manchester to Victoria Falls are included, with a local tour director who meets you on arrival and expert guides on every excursion. You stay seven nights at the four-star Chobe Safari Lodge, on the riverbank at the edge of Chobe National Park, on a half-board basis with breakfasts and dinners, a swimming pool, optional spa treatments and dinners under the stars. Two nights are spent on overnight flights. The holiday welcomes families with children aged 6 and over.
Chobe National Park is home to one of the largest elephant populations in Africa, and the river draws huge herds to drink and bathe, along with buffalo, giraffe, zebra, impala and predators including lions and leopards. You join two morning and three afternoon game drives in open 4×4 vehicles, with sundowners on the afternoon drives as the sun sets over the floodplain. Lions often hunt along the floodplain in the dry season, when the river is the only water for miles.

On the water, a sunset cruise on a double-decker boat and a private morning river cruise bring you close to hippos, crocodiles, buffalo and birds such as African fish eagles and kingfishers. You also visit the newly opened Chobe Elephant Centre to learn about the region's elephants, and spend a day across the border in Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls, with entry to the national park and time in the town. Free mornings let you join optional activities such as a photographic boat cruise. Evenings are spent at the lodge, with dinner overlooking the river.
The holiday ends with a farewell dinner cruise on the Chobe River before the flight home from Victoria Falls. Your guide and lodge staff look after transfers at both borders.
The physical rating is low, with early starts for game drives. This holiday suits couples and families who want a relaxed, comfortable first safari with flights and transfers arranged and plenty of wildlife from a single base. Single rooms are available for a supplement.
