Egypt and Jordan in One Trip: Every Combined Tour Compared, Pyramids to Petra

In this story

The Pyramids and Petra in one holiday is one of the great two-country pairings: pharaohs one week, Nabataeans the next. The hard part is choosing how: a felucca or a five-star Nile ship, a sleeper train or a domestic flight, a group of 12 or 28, nine days or more than three weeks.

This guide is for anyone who wants both countries in one holiday. We compare every combined Egypt and Jordan tour on our Egypt and Jordan tour pages, from simple budget trips to small-group comfort, a family holiday and a fully inclusive tour with flights, so you can match the trip to your style and budget.

How to choose

By time available. Nine days: the Express, without the Pyramids. Two weeks: Discover, the 18–35s trip, Petra to the Pyramids, Classic, Small Group or the family holiday. Three weeks or more: Uncovered or In Depth.

By budget. The Express, the 18–35s trip, Discover and Uncovered are the cheapest. Petra to the Pyramids, the family holiday and Classic sit in the middle. Small Group, In Depth and the tour with flights cost the most, and the last includes flights and nearly all meals. Live prices are in the table above.

By fitness. Most tours are rated medium because of early starts, heat and long days; the family holiday is rated low.

By travel style. Felucca and sleeper trains for adventure and value; a Nile cruise for comfort; the flight-inclusive tour if you want nothing to organise. Only the 18-day tour includes international flights.

When to go

Most of these tours depart all year. The tour with flights runs in autumn and from January to March, and the family holiday departs in April, the summer months and December. Several tour pages warn that Egypt can be very hot and that big sites are visited early to avoid the heat and crowds.
