Tour overview

This 7-day expedition cruise explores the Svalbard archipelago, far north of mainland Norway, aboard a modern ice-strengthened ship with most cabins opening onto balconies. Group flights from Oslo to Longyearbyen and back are included, and you spend six nights on board with all meals from the second day.

Each day an expedition team leads Zodiac cruises and shore landings, weather and ice permitting, with lectures on board. You explore the fjords and glaciers of Northwest Spitsbergen National Park and the stark polar desert of the northeast.

The ship pushes north to the edge of the Arctic pack ice, home to seals, seabirds, whales and polar bears, then returns via the glaciers of Kongsfjorden before landing in Longyearbyen for the flight back to Oslo.

The physical rating is medium, as landings involve climbing in and out of Zodiacs. This cruise suits wildlife lovers who want the high Arctic in a week.
