Luxury Indonesia: Bali & Komodo’s Sacred Wild Isles – 9 Days
Ubud, Mount Batur, Bali's east coast, Komodo and Flores, with luxury resorts and a named expert guide.
Tour overview
This 9-day luxury journey reveals the spiritual heart of Bali and the wild islands of the Komodo archipelago, staying in four exceptional boutique resorts and travelling with a named expert guide. Groups have between four and sixteen travellers aged 18 and over. You stay eight nights: two at Komaneka at Bisma in Ubud, two at Candi Beach Resort on the east coast, three at Sudamala Resort Komodo in Flores and one at Merusaka Nusa Dua. All breakfasts, four lunches and eight dinners are included, along with arrival and departure transfers, two domestic flights, a private speedboat and gratuities for local staff.
Your journey begins in Ubud with a welcome reception and dinner at a private royal residence, hosted by the family patriarch and accompanied by a solo Legong performance by one of Bali's most celebrated dancers. The next day, in the farming village of Subak Guliang, a female priest conducts a private blessing at the village temple. You then walk the rice fields with farmers and cook Balinese dishes in a community kitchen, joined by a local historian over lunch.

Before first light you travel to Mount Batur with one of Bali's female mountaineers to watch dawn break over the caldera and lake from a viewpoint rarely visited, then cross the black lava fields by 4×4; a later-start offering-making class is an alternative. On the east coast your Signature Day lets you choose an experience in advance, such as a hike with village guides, a visit to Besakih Temple with a gamelan workshop, or snorkelling from a wooden boat, followed by a rijsttafel dinner with a family in Tenganan.
Flying to Labuan Bajo in Flores, you take a private speedboat into Komodo National Park with a ranger to see Komodo dragons on Rinca, snorkel over the reefs of Pink Beach and relax at Taka Makassar. Inland, you visit the Manggarai village of Todo with its circular houses and spider-web rice fields, swim in the glowing tidal pool of Rangko Cave and enjoy a beachfront barbecue. Back in Bali, a bike ride through Petang's villages precedes a farewell feast on the beach.
The physical rating is medium, with early starts, short walks and snorkelling. This journey suits discerning travellers who want privileged access and exceptional hotels.
