Bali, Lombok & Gili Islands: Hike, Bike, Raft & Snorkel – 12 Days
Rafting in Ubud, cycling near Mount Agung, a camping night on Mount Rinjani and snorkelling off Gili Air, in a group of up to 12.
Tour overview
This 12-day small-group adventure is for active travellers who want to see Bali and Lombok on foot, by bike, by raft and underwater. Groups have up to 12 travellers aged 15 and over, with a trip leader throughout and specialist local guides, including on the Mount Rinjani trek. You travel by private vehicle, fast boat and local boat, and stay six nights in hotels and four in guesthouses, plus one night camping near the crater rim of Mount Rinjani at around 2,600 metres. Breakfast is included daily, with four lunches and one dinner, and all equipment for the activities is provided.
The trip begins in Ubud, Bali's cultural heart, with white-water rafting on an 11-kilometre stretch of river through rainforest gorges and rice paddies, on rapids of Class II and III. Next comes a cycling day from the foothills of Mount Agung through bamboo forest and fruit orchards down to White Beach, and a village trek near Candidasa through Budakeling, cacao plantations and a silversmith's workshop, with a visit to the royal water palace of Tirta Ganga.

From Amed, a quiet coastal village with clear water for snorkelling, you climb more than 1,700 steps to Lempuyang Temple, one of Bali's holiest sites, and enjoy a free day. A fast boat takes you to Lombok, where you visit a Sasak village in Senaru on the slopes of Mount Rinjani, Indonesia's second-highest volcano. Amed's black-sand beaches and coral reefs are also known for traditional salt making along the shore.
The highlight for many is the full-day trek up Rinjani on dirt, rock and grass paths to camp near the crater rim, with views over the turquoise crater lake. You wake for a blazing sunrise before descending back to Senaru. The trip ends on Gili Air, a car-free island of white beaches and bamboo cafés, with a snorkelling trip by wooden boat to look for turtles and reef fish.
The physical rating is high. The Rinjani trek is long and steep, and the night on the mountain is basic and cold. This trip suits fit, adventurous travellers who want an active introduction to Indonesia with plenty of variety.
