Tour overview

This 6-day trip puts you in the middle of the world's biggest party, the Rio de Janeiro Carnival, with a local leader and a group of up to fifty. You stay five nights in a hotel in Rio, with a welcome dinner and breakfast every day.

After a welcome dinner you head up to Christ the Redeemer and ride the cable car up Sugarloaf Mountain for the classic views over Guanabara Bay. Next day you join a bloco, one of the free street parties that are the real heart of Carnival.

The highlight is a night at the Sambadrome, with seats for the parade of the samba schools, their dancers and floats. There is a samba club visit and free time to recover on Copacabana or Ipanema beach.

The physical rating is low, but nights are late. This trip suits travellers who want to experience Carnival with tickets and logistics sorted.
