Canadian Rockies, Rocky Mountaineer & Alaska Cruise – 17 Days
Three nights in Banff, Jasper, the Rocky Mountaineer and a seven-night Alaska cruise, with flights from Heathrow.
Tour overview
This 17-day holiday combines a relaxed stay in the Canadian Rockies with two days aboard the Rocky Mountaineer and a seven-night cruise along the Inside Passage to Alaska aboard a Holland America Line ship. A tour director travels with you on land, and return flights from London Heathrow are included. You stay eight nights in three- and four-star hotels on a room-only basis, three in Banff, two in Jasper, one in Kamloops and two in Vancouver, and seven nights in an inside cabin with full board on the ship, with upgrades to outside cabins and suites available.
Flying to Calgary, the cattle town of the prairies, you travel into the Rockies to Banff for three nights. Days at leisure let you explore the mountains' spectacular capital, with optional excursions to the Banff lakes, the gondola up Sulphur Mountain or the hot springs. An included excursion takes you to Lake Louise, framed by the Victoria Glacier, and along the Icefields Parkway, past glaciers, waterfalls and turquoise lakes, to Jasper.

A free day in Jasper allows for the optional Jasper SkyTram and a cruise on Maligne Lake. You then board the Rocky Mountaineer for a two-day journey by daylight through canyons and forests, with an overnight stop in Kamloops, arriving in Vancouver along the Fraser River. An optional city tour introduces Stanley Park and Gastown.
Boarding your Holland America Line ship, you spend a day at sea cruising the Inside Passage, then call at Juneau, Alaska's capital, set among mountains and glaciers, and Skagway, the historic gateway to the Klondike gold rush. The scenic highlight is a day sailing through Glacier Bay National Park, watching glaciers calve into the sea, before a call at Ketchikan, the southernmost of the Alaskan ports, and a final day cruising back to Vancouver for your overnight flight home.
The physical rating is low, with plenty of time at leisure. This holiday suits travellers who want a relaxed pace in the Rockies combined with the comfort of a cruise.
