Rocky Mountaineer & Deluxe Alaska Cruise with Flights – 18 Days
Banff, Jasper, the Rocky Mountaineer and a seven-night Alaska cruise, with flights from Heathrow and a home chauffeur service.
Tour overview
This 18-day holiday combines the grandeur of the Canadian Rockies with one of the world's great train journeys and a week cruising the Inside Passage to Alaska, with every detail looked after from your front door. A tour director accompanies you on land, and a shared chauffeur service collects you from home and returns you at the end. You stay nine nights in comfortable hotels in Banff, Jasper, Kamloops and Vancouver and seven nights aboard Holland America Line's Koningsdam, with one night in flight. Return flights from London Heathrow with Air Canada are included, along with selected meals on land and full board on the cruise.
After flying to Calgary, you travel into the mountains to Banff, regarded as one of North America's loveliest small towns, set within Canada's first national park. A free day lets you browse its boutiques and cafés, ride the gondola or soak in the hot springs, before you travel north along the Icefields Parkway to Jasper, with views of glaciers, turquoise lakes and towering peaks. Jasper National Park, one of the country's oldest and largest, is home to elk, bears and bighorn sheep.

Boarding the Rocky Mountaineer, you spend two days crossing the mountains by daylight, with meals served on board and an overnight stop in Kamloops, as the scenery changes from snowy peaks to canyons, rivers and the green fields of the Fraser Valley on the approach to Vancouver.
In Vancouver you board Koningsdam for a seven-night round trip to Alaska. Cruising Canada's Inside Passage, you look out for whales, seals and mountain goats, then call at Juneau, Alaska's capital; Skagway, gateway to the Klondike goldfields; and Ketchikan, famous for its totem poles. A highlight is a day sailing through Glacier Bay National Park, where tidewater glaciers calve into the sea. Back in Vancouver, two days let you explore Stanley Park, Granville Island and Gastown before your flight home.
The physical rating is low, with optional excursions at your own pace. This holiday suits travellers who want a once-in-a-lifetime combination of rail and sea in comfort, with door-to-door service and no planning required.
