Berlin to Venice: Prague, Budapest, Vienna & Bled – 15 Days
Berlin, Saxon Switzerland, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg and Lake Bled to Venice, with a group of up to 16.
Tour overview
This 15-day small-group journey links seven countries of Central Europe by train and bus, from Berlin's history to the canals of Venice, at an easy, independent pace. Groups have up to 16 travellers aged 15 and over, with a leader throughout. You stay fourteen nights in a mix of hostels, hotels and guesthouses, some with shared facilities. Breakfast is included on most days, and there is plenty of free time in each city to explore on your own. The trip runs in two sections, with new travellers joining in Budapest.
After a welcome meeting in Berlin, you have a free day for the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the East Side Gallery and the city's museums. An early train takes you to Dresden, then to the village of Rathen for a hike to the Bastei, a dramatic sandstone bridge high above the Elbe in Saxon Switzerland.

A scenic train ride through the Elbe valley brings you to Prague, where you enjoy a beer at a local brewery and have a free day to discover the castle, Charles Bridge and Old Town. You travel on to Bratislava, Slovakia's compact capital on the Danube, and then to Budapest, the Pearl of the Danube, for two nights of thermal baths and grand boulevards.
In Vienna you enjoy the classic coffee and cake experience and a free day for palaces, museums and the opera. Salzburg, Mozart's city below the Eastern Alps, leads by train to Slovenia and two nights at Lake Bled, at the edge of the Julian Alps, with a walk around the lake and its island church. The final journey takes you to Venice for its canals, bridges and lagoon.
The physical rating is low, with walking and one short hike. This trip suits sociable, budget-conscious travellers who want to see the highlights of Central Europe with plenty of freedom. Two nights in most cities give a relaxed rhythm, and your leader handles every train connection, so you can simply enjoy the journey and the changing scenery from the window.

If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
