Luxury Southern Africa Safari: Kruger to the Okavango – 14 Days
Kruger, Victoria Falls, Chobe, the Zambezi, the Makgadikgadi Pans and the Okavango Delta, in comfortable lodges with a small group.
Tour overview
This 14-day small-group safari links four countries and five of southern Africa's great wildlife areas, staying in comfortable, hand-picked lodges. Groups have up to 12 travellers aged 15 and over, with a leader and expert local guides, and a flight from Kruger to Victoria Falls saves a long drive. Feature stays include Mdluli Safari Lodge, on a community-owned concession beside Kruger National Park, and Zambezi Mubala Lodge on the river in Namibia. Most meals are included, from welcome dinners to dinners under the stars, with an arrival transfer in Johannesburg.
After a welcome dinner in Johannesburg, you drive to Kruger National Park for two nights at Mdluli, with an afternoon 4WD safari, sundowner drinks and a full day of game drives in search of lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo and rhinos. A flight then takes you to Victoria Falls, where you see the thundering falls on a guided tour and enjoy a dinner cruise on the Zambezi River.

Crossing into Botswana, you spend three nights at Chobe Safari Lodge on the Chobe River, with a river cruise among bathing elephants, hippos and crocodiles, morning and afternoon game drives in Chobe National Park, home to one of Africa's largest elephant populations, and a free day. Next comes Zambezi Mubala Lodge in Namibia's Zambezi region, with a relaxing morning and an afternoon river cruise.
Heading south, you reach the Makgadikgadi Pans, the remains of a vast prehistoric lake, staying at Nata Lodge. With trackers you watch a habituated family of meerkats on the edge of the Ntwetwe salt pan. The trip ends in Maun, where you glide through the channels of the Okavango Delta in a mokoro, poled by local guides, before a final morning in Maun.
The physical rating is medium, with early starts for game drives. This safari suits travellers who want to see the best of southern Africa's wildlife in comfort, with a small group and an expert leader. Lodges are chosen for their settings, with river views at Chobe and on the Zambezi, and the varied mix of game drives, river cruises, a mokoro trip and the meerkat encounter means every few days brings a different way of seeing wildlife.
