Peru, Ecuador & Galápagos with Flights: Machu Picchu & Quito – 17 Days
Machu Picchu, Cusco and the Sacred Valley, Quito and four nights in the Galápagos, with flights from London included.
Tour overview
This 17-day escorted tour combines Peru's Inca heartland with Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands, with international and internal flights from London Heathrow included. A tour director travels with the group throughout, with local guides including certified Galápagos National Park guides, and comfortable coaches link each stop. You stay 14 nights in carefully chosen hotels, with two nights on overnight flights, and 20 meals are included: 14 breakfasts, five lunches and a dinner. Groups are typically between 20 and 45 travellers aged 21 and over.
After arriving in Lima, a guided tour explores the colonial heart of the city around its central plaza, founded by Francisco Pizarro. A flight to Cusco takes you straight into the Sacred Valley of the Incas for two nights, with visits to the Andean village of Ccaccaccollo, the ruins and market of Pisac, the fortress of Ollantaytambo and a Potato Park, where communities protect hundreds of native varieties. Lima is also known as the food capital of South America.

A narrow-gauge railway and bus bring you to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the Lost City of the Incas, with a night in Aguas Calientes so you can return to the citadel the next morning if you wish. In Cusco a guided tour visits the cathedral, the Qorikancha sun temple and the Inca sites of Sacsayhuamán, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay.
Flying to Quito, high in the Andes, you visit the Middle of the World monument on the equator and the Indigenous market town of Otavalo. Four nights in the Galápagos follow, staying in hotels on Santa Cruz and San Cristóbal: a cruise in Academy Bay with snorkelling, the Charles Darwin Research Station and its giant tortoises, and a boat trip to Isla Lobos to swim with sea lions and see blue-footed boobies. A final tour of Quito's UNESCO-listed old town precedes the flight home.
The physical rating is medium, with high altitude in Cusco and Quito. This tour suits travellers who want Machu Picchu and the Galápagos in comfort, with flights and logistics taken care of. Single rooms are available for a supplement, and extra nights can be added in Lima or Quito.
