Santorini Holidays

Hom_Santorini

Santorini is the classic Greek island postcard: white cave houses on the rim of a volcanic caldera, blue domes and sunsets over the sea. The caldera villages are made for views; the east and south coasts have the black-sand beaches.

We offer 80 Santorini hotels in 15 locations, including 22 five-star stays and 8 adults-only hotels. Choose the caldera for romance, or Kamari and Perissa for the beach.

Where to stay in Santorini

Where you stay changes your holiday more here than on most islands: caldera views or beach access, rarely both.

Oia

The most famous village, at the northern tip, known for its sunsets. Expect crowds at dusk and lots of steps between cave suites.

Imerovigli

The highest point of the caldera, quieter than Oia and Fira, with some of the island’s most romantic boutique hotels.

Fira

The island’s capital, with the most shops, bars and restaurants, cliffside caldera hotels and the cable car down to the old port.

Kamari

A black-sand beach resort on the east coast with a lively promenade of tavernas. Good value and handy for the airport.

Pyrgos

A traditional hilltop village in the centre of the island, with panoramic views and local wineries nearby.

Perissa

A long black-sand beach on the south-east coast, running into Perivolos, with beach bars and a more relaxed feel.

When to go to Santorini

May, June, September and early October are the best months: warm, sunny and less crowded than July and August. Summer highs are around 28–30°C, and the island can be windy, especially in August.

Getting there and getting around

Direct flights from the UK take about four hours. The island is small, so most transfers take 15 to 40 minutes. Buses run from Fira to the main villages and beaches, and boat trips around the caldera, with stops at the volcano and hot springs, are a highlight.

Santorini holiday FAQs

Is it better to stay on the caldera or the beach in Santorini?

Stay on the caldera (Oia, Imerovigli, Fira or Firostefani) for views and sunsets. Stay in Kamari or Perissa for direct beach access, more space and better value.

Is Santorini good for families?

Caldera hotels have lots of steps and often do not accept young children. Families are usually happier on the beach in Kamari or Perissa.

Does Santorini have sandy beaches?

Are there adults-only hotels in Santorini?

Yes, we currently offer 8 adults-only hotels in Santorini, mostly on the caldera.

How long is the flight to Santorini?

About four hours from the UK.
