This 16-day escorted coach tour takes a grand sweep around the western Mediterranean, from Paris through southern France and Spain, along the French Riviera and into Italy, ending in Rome. A tour director travels with the group throughout, with a professional driver and local experts guiding you in the major cities. You stay fifteen nights in named four-star hotels, with porterage included, among them the Marriott Rive Gauche in Paris, the Barceló Costa Vasca in San Sebastián and the Hilton Diagonal Mar in Barcelona. Fifteen breakfasts and four dinners are included, with three relaxed starts built into the itinerary.

In Paris your tour director introduces the City of Light, passing the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Élysées and the Eiffel Tower. Heading south through the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of châteaux and vineyards, you reach Bordeaux for a guided walk past its elegant eighteenth-century quaysides, then cross into Spain to San Sebastián, famous for its beach and pintxos bars.

Through the mountains and gorges of northern Spain you continue to Madrid for a tour of the old town and the Paseo de la Castellana, with free time for the Prado. Crossing the Castilian plain past Zaragoza, you reach Barcelona, where a local expert leads you through the Gothic Quarter and you see Gaudí's extraordinary architecture.

Following the Mediterranean coast into France, you spend two nights in Nice on the Côte d'Azur, with time to visit Monaco and Monte Carlo. Crossing into Italy along the Italian Riviera, you see the Leaning Tower in Pisa's Square of Miracles and reach Florence, where a local expert takes you to the cathedral and baptistery with Ghiberti's Gates of Paradise. Passing through the Chianti hills and Umbria, you arrive in Rome for a tour of the Vatican and the ancient city, with a free day for optional trips such as Pompeii.
