London to Rome: Paris, Spain & the Riviera – 16 Days
Fifteen nights by Eurostar and coach through Paris, Bordeaux, San Sebastián, Madrid, Barcelona, Nice, Florence and Rome.
Tour overview
This 16-day escorted tour travels from London to Rome through France, Spain, Monaco and Italy. It begins with the Eurostar from St Pancras to Paris and continues on an air-conditioned 40-seat coach with extra legroom. A tour director travels with you throughout, and local guides lead the main visits. You stay 15 nights in city hotels with breakfast daily and four dinners, and hotel porterage and tips are included.
Two nights in Paris start with a welcome dinner and an orientation drive past the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre-Dame and the Arc de Triomphe, with a free afternoon to explore. Heading south through the Loire Valley, you visit Château de Chenonceau, built across the River Cher, and reach Bordeaux for a guided walk past its 18th-century riverside façades and the Grand Théâtre.

In Spain, San Sebastián greets you with a pintxos dinner in the Old Town, washed down with local Txakoli wine. In Madrid a local guide shows you the Old Quarter and the Plaza de Cibeles, and an art historian takes you to see Picasso's Guernica at the Reina Sofía Museum. In Barcelona you walk through the Gothic Quarter, along La Rambla and Passeig de Gràcia, to Gaudí's Sagrada Família.
The coast road leads to Nice and the Promenade des Anglais. A day in Monaco includes a drive along part of the Grand Prix circuit and a choice between the Oceanographic Museum and the Royal Palace and cathedral, where Princess Grace is buried. Crossing into Italy along the Riviera, you see the Leaning Tower and cathedral in Pisa's Square of Miracles, then spend two nights in Florence with a guided walk to the cathedral, the baptistery and Piazza della Signoria.
The tour ends with three nights in Rome. After a drive through Chianti and Umbria and a farewell dinner, a local guide takes you through the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel to St Peter's Basilica, with Michelangelo's Pietà. A final free day leaves time for the Colosseum or the Spanish Steps, or an optional trip to Pompeii.
The pace is steady, with several long coach days balanced by free afternoons. It suits travellers who want to see the great cities of western Europe in one journey, with hotels, transport, guides and luggage taken care of.
