Best Time to Visit
Mauritius has a mild tropical climate and can be visited year-round.

• Summer (November to April): Hot, humid, and lush, with daytime highs around 30°C.
• Winter (June to September): Cooler, drier, and pleasant for outdoor exploration, with temperatures around 22–26°C.
• Warmest months: January and February
• Coolest months: July and August
• Wettest months: February and March
• Driest month: October
  Recommended travel window: May to early December offers ideal weather and good value.

Time Difference
Mauritius is GMT +4 hours throughout the year.
Unlike the UK, Mauritius does not observe daylight saving time, so the time difference varies slightly:

• +4 hours in UK winter (late October to late March)
• +3 hours in UK summer (late March to late October)

Visas
British passport holders do not require a visa for stays of up to 60 days.
You must have valid return or onward travel documents, and a passport with at least six months’ validity.

Language
English is the official language of Mauritius.
French and Mauritian Creole are also widely spoken, especially in daily life and the media.

Currency
The local currency is the Mauritian Rupee (MUR).
ATMs are widely available, and most hotels, restaurants, and shops accept credit and debit cards.
