Rome to Amalfi: Pompeii, Vesuvius & the Path of the Gods – 8 Days
Naples, Pompeii, Vesuvius, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast, in a group of up to twelve.
Tour overview
This 8-day small-group adventure travels south from Rome to the Amalfi Coast by train and private vehicle. A local leader travels with the group, which numbers no more than twelve. You stay seven nights in hotels, with breakfast daily.
From Rome you take the train to Naples for a leader-led walk through the historic centre and Spanish Quarter, and a caffè sospeso, the local tradition of buying a coffee for a stranger. You then explore the ruins of Pompeii with a local guide and climb to the crater rim of Mount Vesuvius with a volcanology guide.

In Sorrento you join a limoncello tasting and a gelato-making demonstration, with a free day to explore. On the Amalfi Coast you hike the Path of the Gods high above the sea to Positano, then return to Amalfi by ferry along the coast.
The physical rating is low, with some longer walks. This trip suits travellers who want history, food and coastal walking in a short break.

Can you tailor the trip?
Yes — every escorted tour can be modified into a private tailor-made version with your own dates, adjusted pace, upgraded hotels and add-on extensions. Tell us what you'd like changed when you enquire and we'll quote it both ways so you can compare.
What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
