Luxury Central Asia: Samarkand, Khiva & Issyk-Kul – 18 Days
Uzbekistan's Silk Road cities, Almaty, Bishkek and a yurt camp on Lake Issyk-Kul, in a group of up to twelve.
Tour overview
This 18-day journey travels the Silk Road cities of Uzbekistan before crossing into the mountains of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. A tour leader travels with the group, which numbers no more than twelve, by private vehicle, high-speed train and two internal flights. You stay seventeen nights in well-located hotels, a converted Jewish house in Bukhara and a yurt camp on Lake Issyk-Kul, with breakfast daily and many lunches and dinners.
From Tashkent the Afrosiab train takes you to Samarkand for the Registan and Shah-i-Zinda, then on to Bukhara, Central Asia's holiest city. In Khiva you explore the walled old city on foot, with a plov demonstration and a Khorezmian cookery class along the way.

The physical rating is medium. This trip suits travellers who want three countries of Central Asia in comfort.

What financial protection do I get?
Every Travelisto booking is 100% financially protected. Your money is held in a ring-fenced Trust account until you return from your trip, and we are members of the Protected Trust Services scheme (PTS 6035). Most tours also include ATOL protection where flights are part of the package.
Do I need visas?
UK citizens can currently visit Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan visa-free for short stays. Check the latest advice before travel.
Are internal flights included?
Yes, from Urgench to Tashkent and from Tashkent to Almaty.
What is the yurt camp like?
Comfortable but simple yurts with electric heaters and shared facilities, for one night.
Are there long travel days?
Yes, including the drive and border crossing from Karakol back to Almaty.
Can I have my own room?
A single supplement is available, except at the yurt camp.
How many people travel together?
No more than twelve travellers, with a tour leader.
Can you tailor the trip?
Yes — every escorted tour can be modified into a private tailor-made version with your own dates, adjusted pace, upgraded hotels and add-on extensions. Tell us what you'd like changed when you enquire and we'll quote it both ways so you can compare.
What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
Not quite the right fit? Make it tailor-made.
If this group tour doesn't match your ideal trip, our specialists will turn it into a private tailor-made journey — your own dates, your own pace, upgraded hotels where you want them, and the parts you don't love swapped out. Same destinations, just rebuilt around you.
