Mexico City Short Break: Teotihuacan, Frida Kahlo & Coyoacán – 4 Days
The historic centre, the pyramids of Teotihuacan, Coyoacán and Frida Kahlo, with tastings and a local leader, in a group of up to 12.
Tour overview
This 4-day small-group short break packs the best of Mexico City into a long weekend, with a local leader, plenty of food and some of the most important sites in the Americas. Groups have up to 12 travellers aged 15 and over. You stay three nights at a comfortable central hotel and travel like a local by Metro and public bus, with a private minibus for the trip to Teotihuacan. Three breakfasts, three lunches and a dinner are included, along with all the listed entrance fees and tastings.
The trip starts at 10am with a private guided tour of the historic centre: the vast Zócalo, the Aztec ruins of the Templo Mayor, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Palacio de Bellas Artes. Along the way you try pulque, the ancient fermented agave drink, browse the craft market of La Ciudadela and have lunch at El Califa de León, a taco stand with a Michelin star, before dinner at the historic Café de Tacuba.

The second day is a trip to Teotihuacan with a local guide, where you walk the Avenue of the Dead between the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon, among the largest pyramids in the world, and hear the stories behind this mysterious ancient city. Lunch is a home-cooked meal with a local family nearby. The site is best explored in the cool of the morning, before the crowds arrive.
On day three you visit Chapultepec Park and its hilltop castle, with views across the city, then head south to colourful Coyoacán for market tastings, a walking tour, churros and hot chocolate, and the Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo House-Studio Museum. The final morning is a guided walk through the leafy, stylish neighbourhoods of Roma Norte and La Condesa, with their murals and Art Deco buildings, a visit to the OMR Gallery and a farewell lunch at a mezcalería.
The physical rating is low, though there is a fair amount of walking and Mexico City sits at more than 2,200 metres. This trip suits travellers short on time, or anyone adding Mexico City to a longer holiday in Mexico or Central America.

What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
