Tour overview
This 10-day tour travels from the villages of Maramures through Transylvania to Bucharest, with many nights in family-run guesthouses. A tour leader travels with the group, which numbers between four and sixteen, by air-conditioned minibus. You stay nine nights in hotels and village guesthouses, with breakfast daily and many home-cooked meals.
From Cluj-Napoca you head north to Maramures, stopping in the village of Breb, and spend two nights in Botiza with a weaving demonstration. You visit the Merry Cemetery, the wooden church of Desesti, Barsana Monastery and the Memorial of the Victims of Communism in Sighet.

In Transylvania you explore Sighisoara and Sibiu, see the fortified churches and taste local wine, then stay in the Saxon village of Viscri. After Brasov you visit Bran Castle, stay near Rasnov and stop at Peles Castle on the way to Bucharest.
