Tour overview

This 5-day short break shows you the highlights of the Faroe Islands from a base in Tórshavn, one of the world’s smallest capitals. A local leader travels with the group, which numbers no more than twelve. You stay four nights in a hotel, with three breakfasts, two lunches and a dinner, including a meal in a local farmhouse.

After a walk through Tórshavn’s old town, with a visit to the TUTL record store and the harbour fort of Skansin, you cross to the far side of Eysturoy for the seaside village of Gjógv and its sea gorge, the Risin and Kellingin sea stacks and, weather permitting, a hike on Slættaratindur, the islands’ highest mountain.

Another day takes you through tunnels to the northern islands of Borðoy and Kalsoy, with a boat trip if the sea allows. Your final full day brings waterfalls, the lake of Sørvágsvatn above the cliffs and a farm visit with heimablídni, the Faroese tradition of dining in a local home.

The physical rating is medium. This short break suits travellers who want a taste of the Faroes’ wild scenery in a few days.
