Southern Japan Experience: Shikoku & Kyushu – 12 Days
Naoshima, Matsuyama, a Kyushu homestay, Beppu, Mount Aso and Nagasaki, in a group of up to twelve.
Tour overview
This 12-day journey explores the less-visited islands of Shikoku and Kyushu. A local leader travels with the group, which numbers no more than twelve, by train, ferry and private transfer. You stay eleven nights in hotels, a countryside homestay and a traditional inn, with a few meals included.
From Osaka you travel to Takamatsu and take the ferry to Naoshima, an island of contemporary art. You continue to Matsuyama, one of Japan's oldest spa towns, then cross to Kyushu for a night with a family in the countryside near Usuki.

In Beppu you try a lunch steamed in hot-spring vapour and have a free day for its many onsen, then stay at a Japanese inn near the vast volcanic caldera of Mount Aso. Two nights in Nagasaki include the Peace Park before a bullet train back to Osaka.
The physical rating is low. This trip suits travellers who want to see a quieter, more traditional side of Japan.

What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
