South Africa’s Garden Route: Cape Town to Addo – 12 Days
Cape Town, the Winelands, Route 62 and the Garden Route to Addo in a group of up to eighteen.
Tour overview
This 12-day small-group adventure follows South Africa's most celebrated road trip, from Cape Town along the coast and through the Klein Karoo to the elephants of Addo. A tour leader travels with the group, which numbers no more than eighteen, with local guides for selected activities. You stay eleven nights in a mix of hotels, a country lodge, forest chalets and a family-run homestead, with breakfast daily and two dinners.
In Cape Town a full day on the Cape Peninsula takes you past Camps Bay and the Twelve Apostles to Cape Point and its lighthouse, with lunch in Simon's Town. After a free morning for Table Mountain or Robben Island you move to Stellenbosch, where oak-lined streets and Cape Dutch buildings lead to an afternoon of tasting at a local vineyard.

Heading east, you visit the African penguin colony at Stony Point and spend a night in Hermanus, famous for whale watching from the cliffs between June and November. You stand at Cape Agulhas, where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet at Africa's southernmost point, then cross the Tradouw Pass to Barrydale on Route 62 for dinner. In Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, you explore the vast limestone chambers of the Cango Caves.
On the Garden Route you walk Swartvlei Beach with a guide from a local conservation project, look out over the Knysna Heads and hike the Robberg Nature Reserve from Plettenberg Bay, watching for seals and dolphins. In Tsitsikamma National Park you can walk to the suspension bridges over the Storms River mouth or kayak up the river, before a game drive in an open safari truck in Addo Elephant National Park, home to more than 600 elephants, and a farewell braai.
The physical rating is medium. This trip suits active travellers who want to see the Western Cape and Garden Route in a small group.

What if my flight is delayed or cancelled?
If your international flight is part of your booking through us, we re-book at no cost. If you've booked flights separately, the tour's local team holds your transfer slot until you arrive. We strongly recommend a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes delay and cancellation cover.
