Christmas Markets of Kraków, Prague, Dresden & Berlin – 8 Days
Kraków, Wrocław, Prague, Dresden and Berlin at Christmas, with airport transfers and a tour director.
Tour overview
This 8-day small-group tour visits some of Central Europe's most atmospheric Christmas markets, travelling from Kraków across Poland and the Czech Republic to Berlin, with time each day to browse the stalls and soak up the festive spirit. A tour director travels with you throughout, with local experts in Kraków, Dresden and Berlin, and airport transfers are included at the start and end. You stay seven nights in centrally located hotels, close to the markets. Breakfast is included daily, along with three dinners: a welcome dinner with wine in Kraków, a progressive dine-around in Prague and a festive celebration dinner in Berlin.
Your journey begins in Kraków, where you meet your fellow travellers for dinner and then walk to the Main Square, whose Cloth Hall and Gothic spires frame one of Poland's best-loved Christmas markets. A local expert takes you up Wawel Hill to the royal castle and cathedral, then through the former Jewish quarter of Kazimierz to the remains of the ghetto wall, with free time for the market or an optional visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine.

On the way to Wrocław you visit Auschwitz, a sobering reminder of history. Wrocław, a city of islands and bridges, has one of the finest Christmas markets in Europe in its Baroque main square, where you taste traditional Lower Silesian gingerbread baked to centuries-old recipes. Crossing into the Czech Republic, you reach Prague for a dine-around through the Malá Strana district, sampling goulash and Czech specialities.
In Prague you choose between a visit to the castle and St Vitus Cathedral or a walk through the Jewish Quarter, then meet a stallholder at the Old Town Square market for mulled wine and trdelník pastry beneath a giant Christmas tree. Crossing into Germany, a local expert shows you Dresden's rebuilt Frauenkirche, the Zwinger Palace and the famous Procession of the Dukes, with time to find Christstollen. The tour ends in Berlin, with a guided tour of the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and remnants of the Berlin Wall, and a final evening at the Gendarmenmarkt.
The physical rating is low. This tour suits travellers who want a festive, well-organised break with history and culture at every stop.
