Experience Japan with Flights: Osaka, Kyoto, Fuji & Tokyo – 11 Days
Osaka, Nara, Kyoto, the snow monkeys, Mount Fuji and Tokyo, with UK flights, all meals and a tour director.
Tour overview
This 11-day escorted tour is a well-paced introduction to Japan's classic sights, with return flights from the UK and every meal included, so you can enjoy Japanese food without worrying about menus or bookings. A tour director looks after you throughout, with guided sightseeing every day. You stay in comfortable three-star-plus and four-star hotels, including the Rihga Gran Kyoto and the Sunshine City Prince in Tokyo. Groups have between 12 and 28 travellers aged 12 and over.
After flying overnight to Osaka, you visit Osaka Castle and continue to Nara for a leisurely walk through Nara Park, home to friendly deer, to the vast Tōdai-ji temple and the Isui-en Gardens. In Kyoto, capital for 1,000 years, you walk through the towering bamboo forest of Arashiyama and the thousands of vermilion torii gates of Fushimi Inari Shrine.

Heading into the mountains, you drive to Yudanaka to look for the snow monkeys bathing in the hot springs of Jigokudani Monkey Park, then cross central Honshu by train to Matsumoto and its 16th-century Crow Castle. In the Fuji Five Lakes area you drive up to Mount Fuji's 5th Station, weather permitting, for close views of Japan's sacred mountain.
Kamakura, a coastal city south of Tokyo, is home to Kōtoku-in Temple and its giant bronze Great Buddha. Your final day in Tokyo begins high on the observation deck of the Tokyo Skytree, Japan's tallest tower, followed by sightseeing in the capital before your flight home.
The physical rating is medium, with plenty of walking at temples and gardens. This tour suits first-time visitors who want to see Japan's highlights comfortably, with flights and all meals taken care of. Japan is famously safe, clean and efficient, and its trains run to the minute, so travelling between regions is part of the pleasure. Spring cherry blossom and autumn colours are especially beautiful times to go. With all meals arranged, you can try a wide range of Japanese dishes, from ramen and tempura to sushi, without needing to read a menu.
