This 8-day self-guided walking holiday explores Bermuda on foot, from one beachfront resort. There is no group or tour leader: you follow routes on a navigation app and use a seven-day travel pass for Bermuda's buses and ferries to reach each start point. You stay all week at Coco Reef Resort, on one of the island's best private beaches 15 minutes from Hamilton, or at Grotto Bay Beach Resort, set in a tropical estate with three private beaches. Accommodation is room only, with breakfast and dinner available as supplements. The holiday can be booked with flights from London, including airport transfers.

The first walk starts at Somerset Bridge, said to be the smallest drawbridge in the world, and follows the Railway Trail, lined with screw palms and cedars, to the 19th-century Fort Scaur and the sleepy village of Somerset, before a coastal track to the Royal Naval Dockyard. The Dockyard has a craft market, museums and a ferry back to Hamilton across the Great Sound.

In the east you explore St George's, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest English settlements in the Americas, with colourful streets and a picturesque harbour, then follow a path lined with prickly pear to Gates Bay, where Sir George Somers came ashore in 1609. Next comes quiet St David's, its cliff-top battery and Cooper's Island, Bermuda's newest nature reserve.

From Gibbs Hill Lighthouse you descend to the famous pink sands of the South Shore Trail, a string of nine bays linked by a flower-scented path, with time for a swim. Later walks follow Harrington Sound to Flatts Village and Blue Hole Park, with its caves filled with turquoise water, and finish with Paget Marsh, the Botanical Gardens, where John Lennon found the flower that named his Double Fantasy album, and Spittal Pond's birdlife. The path passes Horseshoe Bay and Warwick Long Bay, two of the most beautiful beaches in the Atlantic.

The walking is graded low, with short and longer options most days. This holiday suits independent walkers and couples who want an easy-going, sunny island break with plenty of beach time.
